License Plate Recognition (LPR/ANPR)
Cameras that read plates to open barriers, log every vehicle and tie trucks to weighbridge readings. Tested on real Lao plates first.

What we usually find on site
A guard writing plates in a book gets them wrong, falls behind when several trucks arrive, and the records are hard to search. At mines and warehouses, unregistered trucks or vehicle swaps at the weighbridge cost real money.
LPR uses dedicated cameras with fast shutters and IR so the plate is sharp even on a moving vehicle or at night. AI then reads the characters and checks them against allow and block lists.
Lao and foreign plates
Lao plates carry Lao script and the province name, and trucks from Thailand, Vietnam and China cross every day. Accuracy on Lao plates varies a lot between brands and models, and brochure figures are usually measured on other countries' plates. So we pilot with real vehicles at your site first, and design for an operator to confirm when the system isn't confident.
Mines have another problem: a truck plate caked in mud or dust can't be read by any camera. A wheel-wash before the gate often helps more than a better camera.
Installed properly
- Camera angle within roughly 30° horizontally and vertically
- Plate at least about 130–150 pixels wide in the image (check each vendor's spec)
- Vehicles in a defined lane, plate visible before the barrier
- A loop detector or sensor so the barrier never comes down on a vehicle. Never skip this.
Integration
LPR connects to barriers, parking systems, weighbridges (plate, weight and photo in one record) and the VMS for searching vehicles after the fact.
What it does
Automatic plate reading
Fast-shutter IR cameras, day and night.
Allow and block lists
Barrier opens for registered vehicles; alerts on watched ones.
Weighbridge link
Plate, weight and photo together, so trucks can't be swapped.
Entry/exit reports
How long vehicles stay, and traffic statistics.
Plate search
Type a plate, see every time that vehicle passed.
Operator confirmation
When the read is uncertain, a person decides.

FAQ
Can it really read Lao plates?
Some models can, but accuracy varies a lot. We don't promise numbers up front. We test with your real vehicles and report what we actually measure.
Can an ordinary CCTV camera read plates?
Not recommended. A slow shutter blurs moving plates, and at night headlights wash the image out. LPR cameras are built to solve exactly those two problems.
How fast can vehicles be moving?
At a barrier gate vehicles slow down anyway, so it's not an issue. Free-flowing roads need specific cameras and mounting, designed for the site.
