AI Video Analytics
Cameras that tell people from leaves and dogs, alert on fence crossings, check PPE, count people and search footage in seconds.

What we usually find on site
One guard watching 32 screens will miss things. Basic motion detection fires every time leaves move, rain falls or a dog walks by, until everyone switches the alerts off. And finding an incident in recorded footage takes hours.
AI video analytics runs deep learning on the camera (edge), the NVR or a server to understand what's in the picture, not just that "something moved".
What it can do
| Function | Example use |
|---|---|
| Person/vehicle classification | Far fewer false alarms from animals, foliage and rain |
| Line crossing / restricted zones | Mine fences, rooftops, fuel stores |
| PPE detection | Hard hats and hi-vis on site |
| People counting / heatmaps | Shops, malls, queue management |
| Attribute search | Find "person in a red shirt" or "white pickup" in seconds |
| Face recognition | VIP lists or watchlists (needs a privacy policy) |
Worth knowing before you buy
AI is only as good as the image it gets. A camera mounted too high, facing into the light or with a dusty lens will perform badly whatever the brand. So we run a 2–4 week pilot in real conditions, rainy nights included, before scaling up.
On face recognition: facial data is sensitive personal data. We recommend a written policy covering purpose, how people are informed, who has access and how long data is kept.
What it does
Fewer false alarms
Alerts on people and vehicles, not leaves or dogs.
Intrusion detection
Line crossing, zone entry and loitering.
Site safety
PPE checks and people near machinery.
Fast search
By colour, type and direction.
Business data
Footfall, heatmaps and queue length.
Edge or server
Processing on the camera, NVR or a GPU server.
Design and rollout
- 1
Agree what the AI should catch and how success is measured
- 2
Check or adjust camera angles for analytics
- 3
Choose edge, NVR or GPU-server processing
- 4
Pilot in real conditions and tune sensitivity
- 5
Send alerts to the control room, phones or sirens

FAQ
Do I have to replace every camera?
Not necessarily. Existing cameras with a good image can use NVR- or server-based AI. At the points that really matter, like the fence line or main gate, new AI cameras usually do better.
Is AI 100% accurate?
No. Light, angle, rain and morning fog all play a part. Be wary of anyone who says 100%. Piloting and tuning give dependable results in your conditions.
What should we consider with face recognition?
Facial data is sensitive. Set a clear purpose, put up notices, limit who can access it and decide how long it's kept. If you don't really need it, don't switch it on.
