Cold Chain Temperature Monitoring

Wireless temperature and humidity alarms for vaccine fridges, freezers, cold rooms and refrigerated trucks, with 24/7 logged history.

Cold Chain Temperature Monitoring

What we usually find on site

Night power cuts go unnoticed until morning, so vaccines and frozen stock spoil silently. Fridges get opened dozens of times a day, probes placed beside the door catch warm air instead of the goods, and a paper log filled in once a day never catches the failure that happened at 02:00. Without a logged record, nobody can prove what stayed safe and what must go.

How fridges fail quietly

What we usually see on sites is a night power cut nobody notices until morning. The fridge looks normal when staff arrive, but nobody knows how many hours the contents sat too warm. Restaurant freezers fail differently: doors open all day and temperatures swing. A paper log filled in once a day catches neither case. For vaccines kept between 2 and 8 degrees, a gap of a few hours can mean discarding the whole fridge.

How the monitoring works

A wireless sensor in each unit reports temperature and humidity to your phone through a central gateway. Leave the safe range, or leave a door open past the delay you set, and you get a phone notification plus SMS or messaging where available. Silence from the first contact moves the alert to a second person. Every reading is logged around the clock with one-click Excel export:

  • Wireless temperature and humidity sensors for fridges, freezers, cold rooms and trucks, plus separate door sensors
  • Gateway with battery backup, and a 4G model for sites where Wi-Fi is weak
  • Alarm limits, door-open delays and second-contact escalation set up for you
  • Local display for staff who do not carry a phone on shift

Where night cuts outlast any fridge, fix the cause with generator and ATS backup.

Probes that read the goods, not the air

A probe in free air swings with every door opening until staff stop listening. We mount it mid-fridge inside a glycol bottle, which warms and cools slowly like the goods around it. Before handover we check each sensor against a reference thermometer.

What we hand over

We supply and install the sensors, gateway and display, set limits per storage type, and train staff on alarm response and the Excel export. Send us photos of your fridges and cold rooms, the unit count, and two alarm contact numbers on WhatsApp and we will propose sensor positions and alarm limits.

What it does

Wireless temperature and humidity sensors

One sensor per unit reporting through a central gateway, with replaceable batteries lasting 1 to 2 years.

Glycol product-simulation probes

Probes immersed in glycol bottles track stored goods instead of swinging with door-opening air.

Door sensors with alarm delay

Alerts only when a door stays open past your set delay, so busy serving hours stay quiet.

4G gateway option

Keeps reporting through power cuts and weak Wi-Fi, built for provincial branches and trucks.

Phone alerts with escalation

Phone notification plus SMS or messaging where available, escalating to a second contact automatically.

24/7 logging with Excel export

History charts for every unit with one-click Excel export for audits and weekly reviews.

Design and rollout

  1. 1

Survey every vaccine fridge, freezer, cold room and truck route, plus where the gateway will sit.

  2. 2

Mount probes mid-unit in glycol bottles, clear of doors and vents, and fit separate door sensors.

  3. 3

Install the gateway with battery backup, using the 4G model wherever Wi-Fi is weak.

  4. 4

Set alarm limits per storage type, false-alarm delays, and the escalation order to the second contact.

  5. 5

Train staff on alarm response, acknowledgement, and the weekly Excel export routine.

Where it fits

  • Clinics and pharmacies storing vaccines at 2 to 8 degrees through unnoticed night cuts.
  • Restaurants and supermarkets whose freezers swing all day from constant door openings.
  • Central cold rooms that must flag a stopped compressor or a half-closed door at once.
  • Refrigerated trucks on provincial routes needing a temperature record from pickup to delivery.

Typical system sizes

Single unit

Fits: Small clinic or shop with one vaccine fridge or freezer holding valuable stock.

  • Sensor set with one glycol probe and a door sensor for the single unit.
  • Gateway with phone alerts and escalation to a second contact configured.
  • Staff training on basic checks and the Excel export routine.

Branch with several units

Fits: Clinic, restaurant or shop with several fridges and freezers in one building.

  • Sensors for every unit with glycol probes, a gateway on backup battery and a local display on site.
  • Separate alarm limits per storage type with delays against door-opening false alarms.
  • Calibration check against a reference thermometer at every point before handover.

Cold rooms and trucks

Fits: Food warehouse or distributor with cold rooms and trucks on provincial routes.

  • Multi-point sensors in the cold room with a 4G gateway on battery backup.
  • On-truck sensors logging the whole route with Excel export for proof of handling.
  • Periodic recalibration plan plus the crushed-ice check taught to staff.

FAQ

Will frequent door openings cause constant false alarms?

No. The glycol probe follows the goods slowly, and we delay the alarm about 10 to 15 minutes first.

Does the system still alert during a night power cut?

Yes. The gateway runs on its backup battery, and the 4G model keeps reporting when Wi-Fi dies with the power.

How often do the sensors need a calibration check?

We check against a reference thermometer at install, then recheck with crushed ice water and recalibrate past half a degree. After that, recheck at least once a year, and every six months for vaccine and medicine fridges.

Can this work at a site with no Wi-Fi?

Yes. We use a 4G gateway with a SIM card reporting directly, built for provincial branches and trucks.
