AI Model Training for Lao Language & Your Data

We train an open-weight AI model on Lao text and your documents, on your own hardware, and prove the gain with a Lao test set.

AI Model Training for Lao Language & Your Data

What we usually find on site

Most AI models learned mostly from English and Chinese text. In Lao they misspell, slip in Thai words, break each Lao word into many small pieces so they run slowly, and know nothing about your products, forms or internal terms. Better prompts only go so far. If your documents cannot leave the building, a cloud service is not an option, and an off-the-shelf model on your own server still answers in weak Lao.

Start with a test, not with training

Before any training we write a Lao test set with your staff: 100 to 200 real questions, letters and translations from your work, kept apart and never used for training. We run two or three open-weight base models against it and pick the one that already handles Lao best. Sometimes the result is that a good base model plus a document assistant is enough, and training is not needed.

How we train

  • Clean the Lao text: one Unicode form, fixed vowel order, duplicates and web junk removed, phone and ID numbers stripped
  • Train small add-on layers (LoRA) instead of the whole model, so one AI machine is enough for a mid-size model
  • Mix in Thai and English so the model does not lose them
  • Save checkpoints every few hours, so a power cut costs hours, not days

Measure before you trust it

Every training run is scored on the same test set, and a general-knowledge check makes sure nothing else got worse. Two or three Lao speakers then compare answers blind, without knowing which model wrote them. A model only goes live if it clearly beats the base model it started from.

Hardware and handover

A mid-size model trains on a single AI workstation with 128 GB of memory; larger runs use two machines linked at 100 to 200 Gb/s. We hand over the trained model, the test set and the scores, and the model runs on your own AI server. Each month we collect wrong answers from real use, correct them with your staff and train the next round.

Send us on WhatsApp five typical Lao questions your staff ask every day and roughly how many documents you have, and we will tell you whether training is worth it.

What it does

Lao test set first

100 to 200 real questions from your work, written with Lao staff and never used for training, so the scores stay honest.

Base model comparison

We score two or three open-weight models on your Lao questions and train only the one that starts strongest.

Clean Lao text

One Unicode form, fixed vowel order, duplicates and personal numbers removed before any text reaches training.

Training on your hardware

Small LoRA layers are trained on site, so your documents never leave your building.

Blind review by Lao speakers

Two or three Lao readers compare answers without knowing which model wrote them.

Monthly improvement round

Wrong answers from real use are corrected with your staff and become the next round of training data.

Design and rollout

  1. 1

Write the Lao test set: 100 to 200 questions from your real work, kept apart from training data.

  2. 2

Score candidate base models on the test set and pick the strongest in Lao.

  3. 3

Collect and clean training text: public Lao text, your documents, and question-answer pairs checked by Lao staff.

  4. 4

Train LoRA layers on your AI machine, saving checkpoints every few hours.

  5. 5

Score again, review blind with Lao speakers, then deploy on your AI server with the test set and results.

Where it fits

  • A support desk answering customer questions in Lao from its own product manuals.
  • An office drafting formal Lao letters and reports in its own house style.
  • A mine or factory translating Lao, Thai and English maintenance and safety documents with its own technical terms.
  • A trading company whose staff ask about product codes, stock and delivery terms in Lao.

FAQ

Will training make the model know everything about our company?

No. Training teaches language, style and recurring terms. Facts that change often, such as stock levels, belong in a document assistant that looks them up each time.

Do our documents leave the building?

No. Training and daily use both run on hardware in your building. We bring the tools to your data, not your data to our office.

How much Lao text is needed?

For a specific task, ten thousand or more checked question-answer pairs is a useful start. To lift general Lao skill you need tens of millions of words of clean text, and collecting it usually takes longer than the training itself.

Can you remove the model's refusals?

Not for general staff or customers. A model without refusals answers harmful requests too and follows instructions hidden in web pages or files. The only case we consider is an isolated machine for an authorised security team, with every question logged.
