Who Growatt is
Growatt New Energy is headquartered in Shenzhen, China. It is one of the most common brands on home and shop roofs in Thailand and Laos. In Thailand it has its own company in Bangkok, a service centre and warehouses, so parts and replacement units are often quicker to get than for many brands.
Product families
- On-grid: MIC and MIN for homes, MOD for larger homes and small buildings, MID, MAC and MAX for factories and large roofs.
- Hybrid: single-phase SPH, MIN XH and MOD XH that can take a battery later, and three-phase WIT for buildings.
- Off-grid: the SPF series for places with no grid, such as farms, provincial schools and work camps.
- Microinverters: the NEO series for small roofs with shade or panels facing several directions.
- Batteries: high-voltage APX in 5 kWh modules, up to about 30 kWh per stack, and AXE for commercial sites.
- Monitoring: the ShinePhone app and ShineServer web portal show yield, consumption, battery level and fault codes.
Who it suits in Laos
Growatt's strength is every system type in one brand at an accessible price. For homes and shops that want a simple on-grid system, or remote sites that need SPF off-grid, it is often a sensible choice. For large factories we always compare it with Sungrow and Huawei.
Because it is so common, we are often called to repair Growatt systems installed by others. Typical problems are Isolation fault codes from degraded DC cabling, fans or vents clogged with dust, and SPF settings that don't match the battery. Standard warranty varies by model and country, so check the warranty card for the exact model quoted.

- Every type in one brand: on-grid, hybrid, off-grid, microinverters and batteries, so technicians learn one app and one menu system.
- A company, service centre and warehouses in Thailand mean replacement units and parts usually reach Laos quickly.
- The SPF series is an off-grid inverter that is not hard to set up, a good fit for farms and schools with no grid supply.
- Plenty of technicians in Thailand and Laos know Growatt, and Thai-language documents and manuals are easy to find.
Things to know before choosing
- Because it is affordable, there are many substandard installations. Most problems come from DC cabling, connectors and mounting location rather than the unit itself.
- Many series have older and newer variants with similar names (for example TL-X and TL-XH). Insist on the full model code in the quotation so you know whether a battery can be added.
- Under warranty the remedy is usually a whole-unit swap, and units bought for other markets may not be claimable in Thailand.
- ShinePhone needs stable Wi-Fi or mobile data. A dongle far from the router leaves gaps in the data and you miss fault codes.
Using it in Laos
Growatt is one of the brands we meet most often, on both new installations and repair jobs.
- Heat: an inverter mounted in full sun derates in the afternoon and ages faster. Add a sun shade or move it into shade.
- Dust: sites near dirt roads, rice mills or mines need the fan and vents cleaned every 3–6 months.
- Brownouts and generators: on SPF units, set the AC input voltage range to suit the local supply or generator, otherwise the unit keeps switching back and forth.
- Ordering: through distributors in Thailand. Residential and SPF models are usually in stock.

Compared with alternatives
For a 48 V hybrid with a generator input and several units in parallel, Deye is the direct comparison. For factories and large buildings, Sungrow or Huawei FusionSolar offer fuller multi-site management and commercial battery cabinets. Solis and GoodWe sit at a similar price level for on-grid and hybrid.

Our Growatt shows an Isolation fault in the morning and then clears. Why?
Usually moisture or dew in damaged DC cable or MC4 connectors, which dries once the sun is up. It gets worse in the rainy season. We measure insulation resistance string by string to find the leak.
Can the SPF series use another battery brand?
Yes, if the battery is on the communication compatibility list or the voltage settings are configured correctly. Wrong settings shorten LiFePO4 battery life. We check the compatibility list before quoting.
Our unit failed out of warranty. Can it be repaired or must we buy new?
Often it can, for example by replacing a fan, fuse, relay or part of a board. We diagnose first and tell you whether repair makes sense compared with a new unit. Send us the model code and a photo of the screen to start.
