Sungrow

Hefei-based Sungrow is one of the world's largest inverter makers by shipments. Its range runs from SG-RS home inverters and SH hybrids to SG-CX commercial inverters, with SBR batteries and PowerStack cabinets for storage. Everything is monitored through iSolarCloud.

Who it suits

Projects that want one brand from home rooftops and battery hybrids up to large factory roofs, with every site in one app.

Overview

Who Sungrow is

Sungrow Power Supply was founded in Hefei, China, and is listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange. Today it is one of the world's largest inverter makers by shipments and a major player in battery storage too. In Thailand it has a Bangkok office and a Thai-speaking service team, which matters for Lao sites that buy through Thailand.

How the product families fit together

  • SG-RS: single-phase on-grid inverters for homes and shops.
  • SH-RS and SH-RT: single-phase and three-phase hybrid inverters that pair with the high-voltage SBR battery (3.2 kWh modules stacked into a tower). Some three-phase models list a backup switch-over time under 10 ms.
  • SG-CX: three-phase string inverters for office and factory roofs and carports.
  • SG-HX and 1+X: utility-scale plants.
  • PowerStack and PowerTitan: storage cabinets for factories and large projects.
  • iSolarCloud: app and web portal for yield, fault codes and remote settings.

Who it suits in Laos

Sungrow's advantage is one brand from a 5 kW home up to a factory roof of several hundred kWp, so an O&M team learns one system and sees every site in iSolarCloud. For offices that suffer evening brownouts we often propose SH-RT with SBR, because you can add battery modules later once you know the real load.

Standard warranty depends on the model and the country of sale. Many residential models sold in Thailand carry 10 years, and extensions can be bought. Check the warranty card for the exact model quoted. On heat: every inverter brand reduces output when ambient temperature passes the derating point in its datasheet, so mount it in shade with good airflow.

Strengths

  • One brand covers every size, from home inverters and battery hybrids to factory storage cabinets, and every site shows up in iSolarCloud.
  • SBR batteries come in 3.2 kWh modules, so you can start small and add capacity later without changing the inverter.
  • With an office and service team in Thailand, warranty claims and technical questions move faster than with brands that have no one in the region.
  • iSolarCloud shows fault codes and per-string data, so a technician can diagnose before driving out to site.

Things to know before choosing

  • Warranty terms depend on the country of sale. A unit bought for another market may not be claimable through the Thai service centre, or may take much longer.
  • Under warranty the usual remedy is a whole-unit swap rather than board repair. Sites that cannot stop need a fallback plan while the replacement comes from Thailand.
  • SBR batteries only work with the hybrid inverters on Sungrow's compatibility list. You cannot freely mix them with other battery brands.
  • iSolarCloud needs a stable internet link. Provincial sites with weak signal should have a dedicated 4G router, and someone should check that data actually reaches the cloud.

Using it in Laos

What we often see on site:

  • Heat: inverters on a west-facing wall or under a metal roof derate in April and May. Mount them in shade and keep the clearances in the manual.
  • Brownouts and high voltage: sites at the end of a long line often log Grid Overvoltage around midday. Check the AC cable size and coordinate with the power utility before changing any setting.
  • Lightning: fit SPDs on both the DC and AC side and do the earthing properly.
  • Ordering: through distributors in Thailand. Residential models are usually in stock; large models and PowerStack may need several weeks.

It suits offices, factories, hotels and schools that want the same system across several sites. Technicians who know Sungrow are not hard to find in Thailand, and we repair and handle warranty claims for systems installed by others.

Compared with alternatives

Huawei FusionSolar is the closest alternative, with inverters, batteries and optimizers in one system, useful on partly shaded roofs. If the specification requires a European brand, look at SMA or Fronius. For a home that wants a 48 V battery and a generator, Deye may fit better.

FAQ

How long is the warranty on a Sungrow inverter?

It depends on the model and country of sale. Many residential models sold in Thailand carry 10 years, with extensions available. We write the warranty terms for the quoted model into every quotation.

We already have an on-grid inverter. Can we add a battery?

SG on-grid inverters cannot take a battery directly. The options are to change to an SH hybrid or add an AC-coupled battery system alongside. We look at your evening load and array size first, then recommend.

What should we do when the inverter shows a fault code?

Take a photo of the display or the iSolarCloud screen and send it to us on WhatsApp. Many codes relate to the grid supply or DC insulation resistance and can be fixed without replacing the unit. Don't keep resetting it without knowing the cause.
