Who it suits
Home, office and factory rooftops that want a dependable string inverter and the freedom to choose the battery brand.
Overview
Who Solis is
Solis is the brand of Ginlong Technologies, founded in 2005, headquartered in Ningbo, China, and listed on the Shenzhen stock exchange since 2019. The company specializes in string inverters, both on-grid and storage. It doesn't sell panels and, for the most part, doesn't push its own batteries. In Thailand it has an office and a service hotline in Bangkok.
Product families
- S6 on-grid, single- and three-phase: for homes, shops and buildings. Many S6 models have AFCI (DC arc-fault detection) built in or as an option.
- Three-phase commercial string inverters: for factory roofs and ground mounts that use many string inverters instead of a central inverter.
- S6 hybrids: S6-EH1P single-phase and S6-EH3P three-phase, in high-voltage and 48 V battery versions. The three-phase 48 V models support a generator, unbalanced loads across phases, and list a backup switch-over time under 10 ms.
- SolisCloud: app and web portal for yield, alarms and remote settings.
Who it suits in Laos
Solis offers dependable string inverters at a mid-level price, and hybrids that work with several battery brands on its compatibility list. That means you can choose the battery, Pylontech for example, rather than being tied to the inverter maker's own.
Standard warranty varies by model and country; some Thai distributors list 10 years for S6. Check the warranty card for the exact model quoted. On heat: every inverter brand derates when ambient temperature passes the datasheet value, so the mounting location matters as much as the brand.
Strengths
- S6 hybrids work with several battery brands on the compatibility list, so you can pick the battery by budget and regional support.
- Many S6 models include AFCI, which shuts down on a DC arc and reduces rooftop fire risk.
- Three-phase 48 V hybrids support a generator and unbalanced loads, which suits buildings full of single-phase equipment.
- An office and service centre in Thailand mean claims don't have to go straight back to China.
Things to know before choosing
- Solis doesn't focus on its own batteries, so a hybrid system has two brands and two warranties. Agree clearly who is responsible when the inverter and battery stop communicating.
- Warranty and model lists differ between countries. Units imported from other markets may have unsuitable grid settings and be hard to claim.
- Under warranty the usual remedy is a whole-unit swap, and board-level parts are hard for outside technicians to get.
Using it in Laos
What we recommend for Solis in Laos:
- Mounting: under the eaves or on a north- or east-facing wall. Keep the clearances in the manual so air can carry the heat away.
- Brownouts and outages: for offices where computers and internet must stay up, use an S6 hybrid with a separate backup load panel rather than backing up the whole building.
- Rainy season: check MC4 connectors and cable gland seals, because moisture triggers insulation-resistance fault codes.
- Ordering: through distributors in Thailand. Residential models are usually in stock; commercial models may need to be ordered ahead.
It suits homes, offices, schools and mid-size factories. Technicians familiar with SolisCloud can be found in Thailand, and we repair and handle claims for systems installed by others.
Compared with alternatives
GoodWe and Growatt sit at a similar price level and have their own batteries, a better fit if you want inverter and battery from one brand. For commercial systems with battery cabinets and multi-site management, Sungrow is more complete. For a 48 V battery to pair with Solis, Pylontech is a common choice.

Solutions that use this brand
FAQ
Can a Solis hybrid use the battery we already have?
It depends on whether the battery is on that model's compatibility list and the voltage matches (48 V or high-voltage). Lead-acid works with some 48 V models but lasts far shorter than LiFePO4. Send us the battery brand and model to check.
SolisCloud stopped updating. Is the inverter broken?
Usually not. Common causes are a changed Wi-Fi password, a reset router or a data logger too far from the router. Check that the inverter display still shows power, then contact us to reconnect it.
Should we use AFCI?
For occupied buildings or roofs over flammable stock, we recommend enabling AFCI. It doesn't replace good workmanship, but it cuts power before a loose connector turns into a fire.
