Overview
Who Yealink is
Yealink is a company from Xiamen, China, that makes IP phones and meeting-room equipment. Its phones are among the most common desk phones in offices worldwide, because they work with almost any SIP-based IP-PBX and there are models certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
The product families
- T5 and T4 Series: SIP desk phones. T4 is the everyday staff phone; T5 has larger screens, and top models such as the T58W Pro add a cordless handset and support an optional camera.
- W Series DECT: cordless phones on base stations, for warehouses, clinics and staff who move around. The AX86R is a Wi-Fi 6 phone for sites that already have good Wi-Fi coverage.
- MeetingBar: all-in-one meeting-room bars with camera, microphones and speakers built in, running Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms on Android. The MeetingBar A40 covers rooms of 5-12 people; the A50, launched in mid-2025, adds a three-camera system for medium and large rooms.
- MeetingBoard: large touchscreens with a built-in camera and meeting system for whiteboarding and presenting.
- USB cameras (UVC): for rooms where a PC runs the meeting.
Management
Yealink devices can be managed several ways: YMCS is Yealink's cloud service, YDMP is the on-premises version, and Teams or Zoom devices can also be managed in Teams Admin Center or Zoom Device Management. IT can see status and push firmware to every room from one place.
Who it suits
Yealink covers entry level up to large enterprise. It suits organizations that need many phones at a reasonable cost, and 4-12 seat meeting rooms that run Teams or Zoom every day.
Strengths
- The SIP phones work with most IP-PBXs, including Yeastar, Grandstream UCM and cloud PBX services, and support auto-provisioning.
- MeetingBar runs Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms itself, so there is no separate PC in the room and fewer cables and failure points.
- Desk phones, DECT, Wi-Fi phones, headsets and meeting-room devices all come from one brand and show up in one YMCS console.
- Cost per handset is reasonable when you need hundreds of phones, and spares such as power adapters and handsets are easy to find.
Things to know before choosing
- Teams and SIP models run different firmware. Order the right variant, because some models can be switched and some cannot.
- A Teams Rooms device needs a separate Teams Rooms licence from Microsoft, and Zoom Rooms needs a Zoom licence. Budget for it every year.
- The equipment comes from a Chinese manufacturer. Organizations with group policies on country of origin should check them first.
Using it in Laos
Yealink comes through distributors in Thailand, and common T4/T5 and DECT models are usually in stock. Newer MeetingBar models and MeetingBoards may need to be ordered ahead.
What we see on sites:
- Echoey meeting rooms: glass walls and tiled floors bounce sound into the microphones. Curtains or acoustic panels help more than a more expensive bar.
- Upload bandwidth: HD video meetings need a stable upload. Check with our bandwidth calculator before several rooms go live at once.
- Brownouts: PoE phones die with their switch. Put the switches that power phones on a UPS.
Good fits: banks, company head offices, hospitals, hotels and international organizations on Teams. Technicians familiar with Yealink are not hard to find. What gets forgotten is firmware: many sites run phones on factory firmware for years. Enrol devices in YMCS so updates go out from one place.
Compared with alternatives
Poly, now part of HP, is strongest in audio and headsets. Logitech is often chosen for meeting rooms that want a centre-of-table camera and its Sync management. For budget SIP desk phones plus door intercoms, Grandstream is the option. Yealink fits when you want phones and meeting rooms from one brand.

Solutions that use this brand
FAQ
After buying a MeetingBar, do we still pay for licences?
You need the meeting platform's licence: Microsoft Teams Rooms for Teams or Zoom Rooms for Zoom. YMCS management may come in free and paid tiers, so ask the seller which features each tier includes.
Will Yealink phones work with our existing PBX?
If the PBX supports SIP, yes. An old analog or digital PBX needs a gateway or a move to an IP-PBX. Test one or two phones first to check transfers and BLF keys.
Is DECT or a Wi-Fi phone better for a warehouse?
DECT is usually better: it uses its own radio band, batteries last longer and handover between base stations is reliable. Wi-Fi phones make sense when your Wi-Fi is already designed for voice and you don't want extra base stations.
