Internet Bandwidth Calculator
Before you renew with your ISP: size download and upload from users, cloud apps, video calls and remote CCTV viewing.
Users
Typical offices 50–70%. Hotels and schools can be higher.
Cloud applications
Daily changed data (incremental). Sized to finish within an 8-hour window.
Video calls
Remote CCTV viewing
E.g. a manager viewing a 9-camera grid on a phone = 9 streams. Remote viewing consumes the site’s upload.

How we calculate
Reference values in Mbps (down / up):
| Light user | 1 / 0.3 |
| Office user | 2.5 / 0.75 |
| Heavy user | 6 / 2 |
| Video call SD / HD / FHD | 1/0.6 · 2.5/1.5 · 4/3 |
| CCTV H.265 sub / main | 0.5 · 4 (up) |
| Cloud suite / ERP / file sync (per user) | 0.3/0.15 · 0.2/0.1 · 0.5/0.5 |
1. Users + cloud = Σ(count × per-user rate) × concurrency.
2. Video calls and CCTV streams are counted in full because they are continuous streams.
3. Backup: Mbps = GB × 8000 ÷ (8 × 3600). Backups run off-hours, so we take the larger of daytime upload and backup upload.
4. Recommended = peak × 1.3, rounded up to a common service tier. Advertised FTTH speeds are best-effort and can drop at busy hours.
These results are estimates to help with planning and budgeting. Our engineers will verify everything on site before final design and equipment proposal.
The same rules of thumb our engineers use for a first design. Good enough for budgeting; the final numbers come from a site survey.
Tools
Solar System Sizing Calculator
Enter kWh from your bill or a device list; get panel size (kWp), inverter, LiFePO4 battery and roof area for on-grid, hybrid and off-grid systems.
Open calculatorCCTV Storage Calculator
Enter cameras, resolution, codec and retention days; get total TB, per-camera bitrate and a drive/RAID layout for the NVR.
Open calculatorUPS Sizing & Runtime Calculator
Add up servers, switches and NAS to get a UPS rating (VA/W) with 25% headroom and the battery energy to ride through an outage.
Open calculatorWi-Fi Access Point Estimator
Counts access points two ways, by floor area and by people online at once, for Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7. The higher number wins.
Open calculatorPoE Budget Calculator
Add up the PoE draw of cameras, APs and IP phones to get a switch budget with 20% headroom. PTZs that need 802.3bt get flagged.
