Poly (HP)

Poly came from the merger of Polycom and Plantronics and has belonged to HP since 2022. Its core strength is audio: Sync speakerphones, noise-cancelling Voyager headsets, Poly Studio video bars and the G7500, all managed in Poly Lens.

Who it suits

Echoey boardrooms, and call center agents sitting shoulder to shoulder who need headsets that cut out the neighbours.

Overview

Who Poly is today

Poly came from merging two older brands: Polycom, which made conferencing systems and phones, and Plantronics, which made headsets. HP completed its purchase of Poly in August 2022 and rebranded it HP Poly in late 2024. On new quotations you may therefore see HP part numbers instead of the old Poly codes, and warranty and support now run through HP's systems.

The product families

  • Poly Studio: video bars for small and medium rooms, usable over USB or as appliances running Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms.
  • Poly G7500: a modular conferencing system for larger rooms, with cameras and microphones chosen to fit the room.
  • Poly CCX and Poly Edge: desk phones. CCX comes in Microsoft Teams and SIP versions; Edge E is the newer SIP phone family that replaces the old VVX.
  • Poly Sync: USB/Bluetooth speakerphones for desks and small rooms.
  • Poly Voyager: noise-cancelling wireless headsets for call centers and open-plan offices.

Management

Poly Lens is the cloud service for managing and updating Poly devices. In January 2026 HP renamed the Poly Lens desktop and mobile apps HP Poly Studio, while Poly Lens Cloud for IT stayed the same. Since March 2026, organizations using HP Workforce Experience Platform can connect Poly Lens to it and see meeting-room devices next to their HP PCs.

Who it suits

Poly's core strength is audio: noise cancellation and clear pickup in echoey rooms. It suits mid-size and large organizations already standardised on HP computers, executive boardrooms, and call centers where agents sit close together.

Strengths

  • Voyager headsets and Sync speakerphones suppress background voices well, so the customer hears only the agent even in a noisy room.
  • Organizations on HP computers can see Poly devices alongside their PCs in HP Workforce Experience Platform, which means one less console for IT.
  • Headsets, desk phones, speakerphones and room systems come from one brand and are managed in one Poly Lens console.
  • HP has published a lifecycle policy under which video endpoints that reach end of sale after April 2025 keep receiving security fixes for a defined period, which helps lifecycle planning.

Things to know before choosing

  • The move to HP Poly changed part numbers, websites and support channels. Check that the serial numbers of your existing devices are registered in HP's system.
  • Many VVX phones and older Polycom devices are already out of support. If you still run them, plan the move to Edge E or CCX.
  • The G7500 and larger video bars cost more than mid-range rivals, and big rooms need an experienced audio designer.
  • Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms need that platform's yearly licence on top of the hardware.

Using it in Laos

Poly equipment comes through HP distributors and communications distributors in Thailand. Headsets and Sync speakerphones are usually in stock; the G7500 and ceiling microphones usually need ordering.

What we see on sites:

  • Echoey meeting rooms: new buildings often have glass walls and hard floors. Good audio gear helps, but add some acoustic treatment too.
  • Call centers: agents sit close together and move desks often. Wireless headsets need channel planning and charging points.
  • Brownouts: CCX and Edge E phones run on PoE. Put the powering switches on a UPS.

Good fits: banks, telecom companies, call centers, head offices and international organizations. Warranty claims go through HP's regional channels; ask exactly how long a replacement takes. Engineers who can tune a G7500 or ceiling microphones are fewer than those who can mount a USB bar, so put audio commissioning in the scope of work.

Compared with alternatives

Logitech offers video bars that run several platforms plus the Sight companion camera. Yealink has phones and MeetingBars at a lower cost, which matters when buying in volume. Cisco fits organizations on Webex and Cisco networking. Choose Poly when audio quality and headsets matter most, or when the organization is standardised on HP.

FAQ

Are our old Polycom devices still supported?

It depends on the model. Older VVX phones and many Polycom conferencing systems are already end-of-life. Send us the model list and serials; we will check them against HP's end-of-life notices and propose replacements.

Does Poly Lens still work after the rename to HP Poly Studio?

Yes. The desktop and mobile apps are now called HP Poly Studio, but the Poly Lens Cloud that IT uses to manage devices works as before. Organizations on HP Workforce Experience Platform can link the two.

Do Poly headsets work with other PBX brands or softphones?

USB and Bluetooth headsets work with most softphones, including Teams, Zoom and PBX apps. Answer and mute buttons may only work fully in supported apps, so test with the software you actually use.
