Who Trend Micro is
Trend Micro is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with large research teams across Asia. On 25 March 2026 its enterprise business was renamed TrendAI. The change is about name and direction: existing products, contracts and licences carry on as before. In documents and new quotations you may see both names.
Trend Micro also runs the Zero Day Initiative, a programme that finds new vulnerabilities in software worldwide. What it learns feeds Trend's IPS rules, often before the affected vendor has released a patch.
How the products fit together
- Trend Vision One: the central platform, combining XDR, attack-surface risk assessment and response in one console. Almost all older products are being moved under it.
- Trend Vision One Endpoint Security: covers PCs (the successor to Apex One) and servers and workloads (the successor to Deep Security). Its standout feature is virtual patching: IPS rules in the agent shield old servers that cannot be patched yet.
- Trend Micro Email Security: mail filtering for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or self-hosted mail servers.
- TippingPoint: network IPS appliances, placed in front of server groups or between OT and IT networks.
Who it suits
Trend Micro suits mid-sized and large organizations with many Windows and Linux servers, on-premises and in the cloud: banks, insurers, and factories still running an old ERP system. For a 20-PC office with no servers it is probably more than you need. If you have servers stuck on an old Windows version because the software cannot move, this is the first brand we would look at.

- Virtual patching in the server agent blocks known exploits on systems that cannot be patched yet, such as a Windows Server 2012 R2 box running an old accounting package.
- One console (Vision One) covers PCs, on-premises servers, cloud servers and email.
- Vulnerability research from the Zero Day Initiative means IPS rules for Trend agents and TippingPoint arrive quickly.
- It has offices and support teams in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, in the same time zone as Laos.
选型前须知
- Products are moving from Apex One and Deep Security into Vision One, and some parts have already reached end of life, such as the Apex One as a Service Endpoint Sensor in June 2025. If you run the older products, plan the migration.
- Vision One has many modules and credit-based licensing. Quotations are hard to read; ask for how many credits each module uses and how many devices it covers.
- The console is cloud-first. Organizations that need everything kept on-site should check how long the remaining on-premises versions will be supported.
- Server IPS needs careful tuning; switching on every rule blindly can block working applications. Start in detect mode.
在老挝的使用
Trend Micro is common in banks, insurers and foreign-owned companies in Laos, especially where there are many servers. Licences come through Thai distributors; TippingPoint is hardware, so shipping and spares come from Thailand too.
Notes from sites:
- Old servers: many organizations still run servers on an unsupported Windows version because old software cannot move. Virtual patching buys time, but it does not replace migrating the system.
- Internet: the console is in the cloud, so agents need internet access. At mine sites or branches on a single line, set up an internal proxy or relay so updates are not downloaded again and again.
- TippingPoint: if you use the appliances, ask about replacement terms and shipping time from Thailand, and configure bypass so the network stays up if the unit fails.
Engineers who know Vision One in depth are still rare in Laos; most are in Thailand.

If you are mostly PCs with few servers, ESET or Sophos are simpler to set up and run. CrowdStrike fits when you want an outside team watching and responding 24/7 through Falcon Complete. If you already pay for Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft Defender may cover much of this without buying more.

We run Deep Security or Apex One on-premises. Do we have to migrate?
The vendor's direction is Vision One Endpoint Security, and there are tools to move agents and settings across. Check the end-of-support date for your version and plan the move around your next licence renewal. Don't wait for the deadline.
Does the TrendAI rename affect licences we already bought?
No. Existing contracts and licences continue unchanged. What changes is the name on documents and some product names, so at renewal check that the new line items match what you use today.
Can Trend Micro protect Microsoft 365 email if we already have Defender?
Yes. Trend Micro Email Security adds a filtering layer on top of Microsoft 365. Some organizations run both layers to catch more phishing, but MX records and rules must be set correctly so good mail is not quarantined or delayed.
